Notes and Trivia[]

  • The series was originally called "Kansas City" and took place in Kansas City, Missouri with a lead character named Sal.[7]
  • Taylor Sheridan wrote the original pilot in two days, called Sylvester Stallone who was onboard for the series two days later, and then sold the series to Paramount+ a few days later.[8]
  • This is one of the first two shows that Sheridan won't be writing every episode of, as he hired a writing staff to assist him due to his busy schedule.[8]
  • Tulsa King was teased during the Paramount+ Upfronts event on May 18, 2022. It was given a November 13th airdate.
  • In April of 2024, allegations broke against Sylvester Stallone for making a hostile work environment on the set of Tulsa King. He and an unnamed director were accused of berating background actors and extras. The allegations caused the shows casting executive and company to quit in a statement by Rose Locke Casting released via Facebook on April 7, 2024. They will fulfill their contractual obligation to the series through April 12th. Tulsa King director and executive producer Craig Zisk told TMZ that no such remarks were made. Craig allegedly asked Locke Casting to hire actors in their 20s-30s for a club scene, but the company hired much older actors instead. He also claimed the company did not provide headshots when asked. An official HR investigation is being conducted by Rose Locke Casting.[9]
